GLDH test
Glutamate dehydrogenase
About the parameter
The glutamate dehydrogenase (GLDH) test measures the liver-specific enzyme GLDH, which is primarily found in the mitochondria of centrolobular hepatocytes. GLDH particularly increases in hypoxic conditions of the liver, as well as in cases of acute hepatic necrosis.
An increased release of GLDH from hepatocytes can further be observed in e.g. inflammatory, neoplastic, or infectious diseases of the liver, as well as in all disorders leading to liver cell degeneration.
Overview
Sample material
Use 100 µl li-hep plasma or serum.
In case samples need to be kept, store at a dark place only!
Method / Measurement range
Glutamate dehydrogenase catalyzes the reduction of oxolutarat
and at the same time the oxidation of NADH to NAD.
Serum / Plasma:
6 – 120 U/L (Lot dependent)
Test duration
The test takes approximately 6 minutes.
